Paper Roads is Here Next Week!
Getting Paper Roads to publication has gone so much easier than it did with A Courtship in Quarantine. I’m not stressed out, I’m not fighting with every website to do its job, I’m not trying to manage being ghosted by professionals I already paid, and the early reviews of PR are amazing.
In fact, let me direct your attention to the IndieReader review for Paper Roads, here: https://indiereader.com/book_review/paper-roads/
If you look closely, you’ll notice they gave it 4.6 out of 5 stars, making it—just like the other two books in the series—officially IndieReader Approved! That means that the International Love and Misadventure series, by yours truly, is an IndieReader Approved series! I’m thrilled about this. I was already debilitatingly confident. I will now be insufferable.
I mean, look at this quote, by IndieReader Reviewer Megan Parker: “With PAPER ROADS, Jem Spears delivers a heartfelt, mature, and emotionally resonant romance that blends reflective character work with a gently immersive journey. It's a rewarding read for fans of second-chance and relationship-driven fiction.”
If you’ve already pre-ordered your copy, thank you! If you haven’t yet but want to, you still have time. Find your preferred bookstore here: https://books2read.com/PaperRoads
And if you want to wait to buy them from me in person or from your favorite local indie bookstore, check out my Events listing below to find where I’ll be. As a newsletter subscriber, you also have the option of just emailing me and asking me to mail you a signed copy. I usually include some goodies in those packages, like stickers and whatnot, so don’t be shy about asking!

In other news, at one of my Valentine’s Day events, someone picked up Starlight and Cinnamon and said, “Oh I heard about this on NPR.” And I about fell over. I think she was mistaken, because I searched the book title soon after to see what was out there. I haven’t been paying much attention, but I couldn’t find anything about it on NPR. I did find people talking about it on TikTok and Instagram, and I saw that it’s available at Target and Walmart, so that inflated confidence continues to grow.
I am now charming and sociable, a far cry from the antisocial vampire/gremlin spawn you may have known me as in the past. Come to one of my events and let me show you.
